Today he found himself in a desert during a storm and took shelter in an unstable looking hut. At the sign of a visitor, he shifted into a rat to hide behind something inconspicuous, and waited. Listened. The voice speaking in rhetoric was familiar. Very familiar, and very new to him as well.
And as he peeked out from behind an old box, he discovered that his suspicions -- dare he call it hopes? -- were verified.
